I embroider onto a water-soluble fabric which disappears when washed away, leaving the threads without their original support. The embroidery changes shape in the process, sometimes in ways I cannot predict.
Mounted against metal, it casts a shadow that becomes part of the work. Unlike the embroidery, the shadow changes with the light and can be interrupted by anyone passing in front of it.
I am interested in letting go of control and following the spontaneous processes, allowing the work to develop in ways I cannot predict. In a world increasingly governed by rules and expectations, whether in art, life or politics, this is my small act of resistance.
